How Does Crystal Healing work?

If your new to crystals and to Crystal healing or you've heard a friend or loved one discussing about these wonderful shinny things your probably wondering DO CRYSTALS WORK & HOW DO CRYSTALS HEAL? is it all crazy new age woo woo!? Today the practice of using stones and crystals continues you will often hear the term "new age" for crystal healing but in fact its "very old age" modern medicine has its roots in crystal healing, surprised?!. Its not just tribal people and shamanic doctors that use crystals in their spiritual practises, literally thousands and thousands of "ordinary people", just like me and you, who live all over the planet have experienced some extraordinary results. So to get back to answering the question we asked at the top of the page, "So, do crystals really work - I mean do they really really work?" i know this sounds strange to some but here at crystal angel wings we would say yes they definitely do work, and we have listened to so many stories from past customers, clients and friends have related to us concerning their many beneficial effects not to mention our own experiences . So the next question is "How do crystals work?" Certainly to me there seems to be a combination of reasons why crystals should have the beneficial effects upon us that they most certainly do. There are 4 reasons (there are others but these are at the top of the list.) Reason Number 1 - crystals have a scientifically proven electrical charge did you know that members of the quartz family have an electrical charge within their crystal structure and many other crystals and minerals display this property also. it isn't an enormous charge that will give you a shock if you were to pick up the crystal! But rather, a very, very small charge that is only measurable with the correct instruments. maybe this is a charge that those sensitive to crystal energies feel? In fact just by placing your crystal onto any surface it will be working for you. there are teachings out there that a crystal needs to be activated to work, i feel this depends on the crystal and the person its with, to me crystals have levels, the lowest level, i'm going to call this the "under world" and the very highest level the "heavens" i feel crystals are always working at the level of "under world" and as such can always be felt and are always working at that base level but they may become "more activated" by certain energies eg this could be a change in earth energies or even cosmos (depending on crystal type) Now, within each of our own bodies we all have millions, if not billions, of cells each with it's own tiny electrical charge within it. If something is wrong with a particular part of our body, could it be that something has disturbed the electrical balance of our cells in the affected area? It is not unreasonable to come to the assumption that the microscopic electrical charge from a crystal, when held or placed against an affected part of the body, could perhaps "balance" the body's own charge and thus helping to give our body a chance to heal itself. The body's own Electromagnetic field could be "balanced" to the extent that very beneficial changes may bring about an improvement in health, be that physical, mental/emotional or spiritual. Reason Number 2- color frequency & Chakra`s Over 3,000 years ago people living in present day Tibet and India, "discovered", if that is the right word, or at least came to an understanding of, the energy portal points on the body that today we call Chakras, our chakras are portals into the energy system of the universe they allow energy in and out, with the assistance of crystal we can keep these energy portals in tip top condition allowing beneficial energy in and detrimental stagnant energy to be released thus preventing a whole host of dis-ease. Each of these points vibrates to a different colour frequency, Crown - Violet Third Eye - Indigo Throat - Blue Heart - Green (and Pink) Solar Plexus - Yellow Sacral Chakra - Orange The Base or Root Chakra - Red The colour of individual crystals resonates with the colour of each Chakra energy portal and can bring that energy portal back into balance. For example,The red of red jasper is good for back issues and issues of a sexual nature the yellow of Citrine is good for Stomach problems IBS & food disorders. The Pink of Rose Quartz is good for soothing the emotions keeping you calm and relaxed and feeling loved. The Blue of Lapis Lazuli makes for a ideal meditation stone with which to contact one's spiritual side. full blog at

Past Life Regression

Excerpt from my book "Practical Manual to Past Life Exploration" (Copyrighted material) " One theory about reincarnation holds that there is no such thing as a chance meeting. Every significant relationship has a deeper purpose for your soul’s continuing education. The theory of soul-mates reveals that our souls travel through time in groups. A soul-mate is not always a member of opposite sex or a lover. It could be a friend, co-worker or family member. Members of the same soul group choose to reincarnate together to support each other through their journeys. When a student goes to a school, he is expected to graduate from one class and move into the next one to continue his education. Life is no different. The life itself is a school. We come to learn some important life lessons. We learn in contrast. If you’ve decided to incarnate this time to learn kindness and love. You will have to know pain and hatred first. We wouldn’t know what white is without comparing to black. How would you know what warm is without knowing what is cold? Every person that walks into our life is a teacher. As surprising it may sound, your worst enemies, the people that caused you the most pain, are your best teachers. There is a chance that you have made an agreement with these people before re-incarnating. Think of all the people with whom you have or had an especially strong positive or negative relationship. Now, imagine that you have had a different relationship with these people in a past-life. If your spouse sometimes feels and act like your child, it is possible that he or she in fact was your child in previous life time. So, think about it: who would be uncovering your past-life memories would help understand these relationships better and improve them! We tend to return into the same family. The roles may change every time though. One of my clients cringed after hypnosis session; “Whew, my husband used to be my son…” Another client teared up. “We were always like this!” – she exclaimed showing her index and middle finger crossed. She had flushes of times when she and her mother were sisters, and another time she was a mother to her now-mom. I’d like to you to recall now how you’ve met your true love. It was different from meeting any other object of desire. From the very first sight you just knew, this is The One! And just after a few minutes of interaction, you got this feeling “I know you”. And when you look into his or hers eyes, they are so familiar, it feels like you are looking in your own reflection. The first kiss felt like “coming home” after a very long travel. The first hug felt like been finally found after been lost for so very long. And all of the sudden, you got flooded and so overwhelmed by rousing feelings of joy, love, happiness, and, at the same time, fear and pain of loss. And then you knew, this is not your first meeting. You have been together before. You have traveled through space and time, from one life-time to another, parting your ways and finding each other again. True love never ends."

Journey Therapy

Journey Therapy works at a profoundly deep level because it allows you to access and transform old memories and emotions stored within the body that are causing illness or disharmony in your life.

My feet can do what?!

If you were told that a lot of your aches, pains, allergy or stress-related issues could be fixed by a foot massage would you believe it? Unless you have experienced a good Reflexology session in the past then the answer to this question would probably be no. This article hopes to explain what Reflexology is and how it can help you. So, what is Reflexology? Reflexology is derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine and focuses massage and healing on specific points or reflexes on the feet. There are also reflex points on the hands and the face but this article with deal with foot reflexes only. The origins of Reflexology are believed to be in China about 5,000 years ago, when the Chinese practised a pressure therapy related to that of acupuncture. It was discovered that applying pressure or stimulation to certain points on the feet could provoke a reaction elsewhere in the body. Over the years these points were mapped and a full picture of the bodily organs could be constructed on the feet. In the West it is known as a type of massage although no creams or lotions are used during a typical Reflexology treatment. The treatment was Westernised by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, an ear, nose, and throat doctor, who introduced a concept of "zone therapy" in 1915. Using the concepts from the Chinese, he discovered that stimulating certain reflex points produced an effect akin to local anaesthetic in other parts of the body. American physiotherapist Eunice Ingram further developed this zone theory in the 1930's into what is now known as Reflexology. Reflexology is based on the theory that all of the body’s organs, glands and systems have corresponding points on the feet and hands, and that stimulating these points can increase circulation of blood and energy to improve the function of the body and increase health. The underlying theory behind reflexology is that there are "reflex" areas on the feet and hands that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. For example: the tips of the toes reflect the head the heart and chest are around the ball of the foot, the liver, pancreas and kidney are in the arch of the foot, low back and intestines are towards the heel. Practitioners believe that applying pressure to these reflex areas can promote health in the corresponding organs through energetic pathways. A scientific explanation is that the pressure may send signals that balance the nervous system or release chemicals such as endorphins that reduce pain and stress. What are the benefits of trying Reflexology? Doctors now agree that up to 75% of our most common health problems can be linked to nervous stress. Reflexology is a popular alternative therapy. It promotes relaxation, improves circulation, reduces pain, soothes tired feet, and encourages overall healing. Reflexology is ideal if you want to try a complementary and alternative medicine approach that is safe with very few side effects. It is excellent for treating the following conditions: - Stress and stress-related conditions Tension headaches Digestive disorders Arthritis Insomnia Hormonal imbalances Sports injuries Menstrual disorders, such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS) Digestive problems, such as constipation Back pain Reflexology can also be used for post-operative or palliative care. Reflexology is recommended as a complementary therapy and should not replace medical treatment. If you are under medical supervision you should, as with any alternative therapy, seek the opinion of your GP before commencing treatment. What is a typical Reflexology treatment like? Usually in a Reflexology treatment, you leave your clothes on, unless you receive your treatment in a spa where you may be encouraged to wear a robe. You remove your shoes and socks and the treatment is carried out on bare feet. A Reflexology treatment usually lasts around 40-45 minutes. The basic sequence of events is pretty much the same everywhere: Before getting started, your therapist will take a brief medical history and ask you some questions about your health. You should confirm if there is a specific ailment you want treated so that your therapist can focus on those specific points. You may be given a bowl of warm water with fragrant oils in in and asked to soak your feet for a few minutes to help relax them. The therapist will then dry your feet and you will either lie down on a massage table or recline in a comfortable chair with the therapist seated at your feet. He or she will work on one foot at a time, combining different techniques of stroking, “crawling” and pressure with her fingers on different parts of your foot, concentrating on areas corresponding to problems that you have reported or where she senses issues that need to be addressed. The process will be repeated for the other foot.

How will the Ministers overruling of the EU Traditional Herbal Medicines Directive effect availability of over the counter herbal products

Under an EU directive passed in 2004 means that from May 1st this year, consumers will no longer be able to purchase unlicensed traditional herbal products.

However, a last minute overruling by ministers means that these unlicensed herbal products, will still be available only when prescribed by a registered professional. This over-ruling is ‘to meet individual patient needs’, and plans are in motion for the Health Professions Council to establish a compulsory register of practitioners supplying unlicensed herbal medicines, which should be in place in 2012.

Why has this happened now?

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Agency has issued more than a dozen alerts in the past two years, an indication that stricter guidelines are needed in obtaining herbal products.

Why don’t more herbal products have a licence?

In order for a herbal product to be licensed, the EU directive demands that it is shown to be in use for 30 years in the EU, or 15 years in the EU and 15 years elsewhere. Even if this can be proved, the process in obtaining a licence costs £80,000 to £120,000, which is a cost most companies can not meet the expense of.

Mind Makeover

Is it enough to only detoxify the body in the New Year? According to some, no. The best way to get the New Year off to a gallant start is by also paying attention to the mind. What does this mean exactly? Well, with all the recent research on what we think having a direct effect on our physical well-being, it seems giving our mind a MOT has many benefits.

It’s claimed negative thought patterns can lead to ill health, so consider if your thoughts could be playing a part in any physical problems you may be suffering from. If you feel this could be an issue and find it difficult ridding the negative thoughts, there are techniques you can use to banish those negative thoughts and in turn improve the way you see and deal with life’s challenges and possibly even improve your health!

Firstly, try to be more conscious of your thoughts, if you find yourself thinking of something that would be counter productive to achieving your goals, recognise it and replace the thought with a positive one. Keep doing this, it will become easier to notice the rogue thoughts and change them. You will find as time goes on you will gradually be having more positive thoughts, until it becomes habitual and the negative thoughts will no longer be an issue!

If this isn’t enough and you still struggle with negative thought patterns, you may have some deep rooted beliefs which may take a bit more work to shift. There are many effective therapies which can help to combat limiting beliefs and put you on the right path. You can enlist the help of practitioners from a number of therapies such as;

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a therapy which aims to solve problems through a goal-orientated systematic procedure. By identifying limiting beliefs, new ways of reacting and behaving are provided in order to change how a situation is viewed.

Hypnosis is another effective therapy which speaks to the sub-conscious when in a relaxed state. Suggestions are made which are said to by-pass the conscious rational mind in this state. This allows changes in core beliefs to take effect with ease and in a short amount of time.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) involves tapping on acupuncture points while focussing on a specific negative memory. The tapping is said to positively affect the body’s electrical system, releasing the memory and diminishing its negative impact.

These are just a few of many ways of addressing negative thought patterns. All differ in technique but lead to the same result. Whichever technique you use in ridding yourself of negative thoughts, once achieved, can only lead to a more lighter and happier you, which can also only have a positive effect on your health, right?

Natural New Year Health Tips

If the festive season has left your nerves frazzled and keeping the family entertained was more challenging than easy, and you are looking for a natural solution to help bring a sense of calm, then my tip top is Rescue Remedy! A combination of 5 flower remedies which is great in any stressful situation in creating a calmer you, check this link for more information

January often means an added few extra pounds in weight and a feeling of over-indulgence and sluggishness from all the never-ending food and drink! If this sounds like you, then you could benefit from the homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica 30c. Nux Vomica can help with feelings of nausea and sluggishness that often arise from eating and drinking excessively. It is such a useful remedy to have at this time of year! Nux Vomica is available at most Boots and Holland and Barrett stores.

As the temperature continues to drop, and it seems more and more people are coming down with bugs, it may be worth thinking about boosting your body’s defences. One way is to take a pro-biotic which will help to normalise and increase the friendly bacteria in the gut. More friendly bacteria means a higher chance of eliminating any nasties that enter the body. Another positive effect is improved digestion with less bloating and wind…a win win situation really! My personal favourite is Biocare’s Bio-Acidophilus Forte see for more details.

The short days and late nights can lead to tiredness and fatigue. One way to beat this is to take a daily sachet of Spatone. Spatone is spa water fortified with iron. You don’t have to be anaemic to take Spatone, it’s a fantastic way to top up your energy levels and give you an extra oomph in January! I mix my Spatone with orange juice and take it every morning about half an hour before breakfast to ensure maximum absorption.

These are just some of the treasures I count on to get me through January fighting fit!

Insomnia is becoming an increasingly common problem affecting people from all walks of life. Prolonged insomnia can have an impact on your health, so finding the root cause and treating it is important.

Here are some points to consider when treating insomnia naturally;

Homeopathic remedies are a safe, natural way of treating insomnia. It can be difficult to determine the correct remedy for yourself as homeopathy treats the whole person, rather than particular symptoms. However, as an acute, you could try the common remedy for sleeplessness, Coffea, which can help to calm the nervous system if over stimulated and help induce sleep.

Rescue Remedy Night is an effective combination of Bach Flower Remedies and contains the remedy White Chestnut, which helps to put a stop to those repetitive thoughts going round your head at night and preventing you from falling asleep.

Supplements can often help in relaxing the body and promoting sleep. A deficiency in Magnesium can stimulate brain neurons making it difficult to switch off. In addition to Magnesium, 5HTP, derived from the amino acid L-tryptophan can help induce sleep by acting as a precursor to serotonin.

Lavender essential oil can help to slow the activity of the nervous system and induce sleep. A few drops on the pillow can help to promote a more restful night’s sleep.

Herbs have been used for thousands of years to promote sleep and many studies have taken place to illustrate their effectiveness. Valerian is probably the most common herbal remedy used to treat sleep disorders. Passiflora is another herb found to elevate mood, decrease anxiety and decrease over thinking. Hops is a herb also shown to act as an effective sedative. Research has shown positive results in all three of these herbs and their ability to increase sleep quality.

A Chinese Acupuncturist would assess why you may have insomnia from an Eastern point of view. Herbal medicines and acupuncture can help treat insomnia with very good effects by treating any imbalances in the body.

The diet should also be considered, avoid eating too late and foods such as refined sugar, carbohydrates, coffee and carbonated drinks, which can all over stimulate the body and mind.

This is just a guide to treatments for insomnia, whilst Homeopathic and Bach Flower Remedies are safe to take, it is important to speak to your doctor before you begin to take any herbs or supplements. Some herbs are contraindicated with specific conventional drugs.

Stress has become a normal part of life in today’s society. It has been reported that almost 50% of people are concerned with the level of stress in their lives. Many don’t know how to handle or reduce stress in their lives and so continue without addressing it until it has a negative impact on their health.

There are many causes of stress and everybody responds to experiences in their own way. What might not be an issue for one person could well be a significant worry for somebody else. Therefore, it is important to acknowledge what causes stress for you and discover ways of treating and easing the stress before it has a chance to impact your health.

Symptoms of stress also vary from person to person and can include but are not limited to tiredness, anger, lack of appetite, food cravings, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, anxiety, depression, constipation, diarrhoea, dizziness, chest pains, sweating, muscle cramps, fainting, and muscular pains.

Acknowledging stress is the first step to treating it. The earlier it is acknowledged, generally the easier and quicker it is to treat. Making a connection between any physical symptoms to an emotional root can also often reveal either thought patterns or limiting beliefs which may be contributing to the stress.

If it is difficult to reduce or eliminate the stressor in your life, then there are many natural ways to help reduce stress, a few of which include; changing the diet and ensuring you are getting the full spectrum of vitamins and minerals from the food you eat. Supplementing a deficient diet with Vitamin B complex, Magnesium and 5HTP supplements may be beneficial, however a nutritionist can further advise on the best supplements to take for your individual needs. Meditation is another favourable treatment for stress and many studies have shown the beneficial effects of daily meditation in reducing stress levels and increasing clarity of thought. Aromatherapy can relieve stress by using certain oils in the bath, added to massage oil or used in a diffuser, there are many essential oils which can help to bring on a calm, relaxed state of mind.

As already stated, stress is individual to each person’s experience so treatment will also differ from person to person. Although there are many self-help techniques that you can use safely, it is recommended to seek the advice of a registered practitioner in whatever therapy you decide to use.

Be Ready for Winter

With winter just around the corner, it is the perfect time to prepare the body and ensure it is in its best possible shape to protect you from all the nasty bugs that will more than likely be doing the rounds this year.

If considering health from a holistic viewpoint, it could be argued that the strength of the body can be determined by a person’s state of mind. So if somebody is emotionally down and low spirited then they are more likely to suffer with physical health problems. So a healthy mind can help keep the body strong and keep viruses at bay.

Vitamin D can help support the body in two ways, firstly by acting as ‘sunshine in a bottle’, vitamin D supplements help boost the levels in the body, which is often low in most people living in the UK due to the low levels of sunshine. Vitamin D is effective in treating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which is common in the dark winter months. Vitamin D has also recently been revealed to support the immune system by stimulating innate immunity in the body.

The herbal tincture Echinacea also has a good reputation for increasing immunity by boosting the white blood cell count. However, be sure to check with your GP if it is suitable for you if you are on any medication.

Taking a good quality probiotic will also help support your immune system, as scientific research shows that 80% of your immune system lives in your digestive tract.

Vitamin C is a vital antioxidant which supports many of the body’s functions including the immune system. It works by making the white blood cells more active, thus fighting bacteria and viruses before they are able to take hold in the body.

Trying to avoid stressors that will decrease your immune response is also a good idea, this can be achieved by minimising stress in your life and adopting coping mechanisms which will allow you to deal with and resolve stress before it becomes a long term problem. By regularly undertaking activities that you enjoy, by making sure you get enough sleep and exercise, by taking a healthy varied diet, will all contribute towards achieving a strong immune response to potential bugs.

These are just a few simple things that you can do it increase your immunity relatively cheaply and effectively. Winter doesn’t have to equal colds and flu!

Beat Stress the Natural Way

Most of us lead very busy lives and now take for granted that we need to juggle our jobs with childcare and homemaking.

Unfortunately, this often leaves little opportunity for relaxation or “me time” and many people (parents in particular) say they feel guilty if they take time out for themselves from a busy day.

Sadly, this means we end up in a vicious circle where stress makes us more tired, more stressed and even less able to cope so it’s vital that you make sure your life includes some relaxation and fun.

One really easy way you can help to reduce stress and beat stress the natural way every day is by smiling. It sounds really basic – and it is but research has shown that smiling can reduce negative emotions. It also releases endorphins (known as happy hormones) so it instantly makes us feel better.

And smiling is contagious so when you smile, it makes someone else smile – spreading the ‘medicine’!  So, how many times have you smiled today?

Combating Severe Stress

If stress is starting to affect your life, it’s worth getting help to reduce your stress levels and improve your feelings of well being.

Experts say that stress is a major factor in at least 80% of visits to GP surgeries so it’s obviously important that you address the issue

Fortunately there are many complementary or alternative therapies that can help beat stress the natural way – and they will have additional benefits such as helping to lower your blood pressure and raising your energy levels.

There are a number of different therapies that you can try including:

  • Massage treatment
  • Shiatsu
  • Reflexology treatment
  • Bach Flower Remedies
  • Talking therapy/counselling

Research has shown that massage can help with a wide range of conditions – including stress, tiredness and aches and pains – and case studies show it can even reduce the erratic behaviour of children with autism.

A therapeutic massage can reduce your blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, improve circulation, relieve muscle tension and headaches and promote faster healing of injuries such as muscle or ligament strains.

Shiatsu is a traditional finger massage which has been used in Asia for thousands of years and is based on a holistic approach.

Reflexology treatment is becoming increasingly popular and can be used to treat a number of conditions such as arthritis, acid reflux, the menopause and insomnia as well as stress.

It involves applying pressure to stimulate nerves in the feet and hands which correspond with specific organs in the body.

Finally, talking therapy or counselling can be a great way to reduce your stress levels.

We’ve all heard the old expression “A problem shared is a problem halved” but today, families often live far apart. This means that many people no longer have their mum, aunt or other close relative to share problems with or chat about things that are making them unhappy.

It can be amazingly therapeutic just to have a sympathetic ear – and often, talking through a problem allows you to see that it isn’t insurmountable.

Of course, there are many other alternative therapies that you can use to fight stress – including herbal medicine, Bach Flower Remedies and aromatherapy and it’s important to find out which treatment works best for you.
